I started working with people through Reiki/Energy work and transpersonal growth and development. I spent over 15 years doing this work prior to going back to Grad School to become a therapist. I have created my own unique approach to therapy by combining my background in reiki and transpersonal development with mental health. I pull in a combination of techniques and approaches, like:
Mindfulness techniques
Grounding practices
Emotional processing
Transpersonal therapy
Solution-focused therapy
Person-centered therapy
Brainspotting
Arts and crafts
Bringing in your interests and hobbies
When I’m not in the office you’ll probably find me doing yoga, reading, watching a movie (Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are personal favorites), baking or enjoying the outdoors. One of my favorite places to spend time is at my parents farm where I can enjoy the peace and grounding energy of the outdoors and the animals there.

Callie Barfield, LPC
Licensed and can see clients in Wisconsin. Works with clients 18+ years old.
I enjoy supporting clients with navigating what has been getting in the way of change. So many of us have "given up" on setting goals and trying to make changes in our lives because we've failed so many times that change feels impossible. Usually, "trying harder" isn't the answer, trying differently is. We will work together to understand and anticipate barriers, troubleshoot when things aren't working, and prioritize a deep sense of self-compassion by recognizing that failing is simply an opportunity to gather more information- it is not a character flaw.
My hope is to support my clients with developing a deeper understanding of how our thoughts, feelings, and actions impact our quality of life. Together, we will explore how our beliefs and assumptions prevent us from living the lives we want.

Most of my experience has been working with college-age individuals. However, I identify as a Health At Every Size (HAES) and anti-diet, anti-racist, sex and kink positive, queer, trans, and poly-affirming, sex worker-allied therapist. I utilize a social justice and trauma informed lens in my practice.

Together, we can work on ways to navigate:
Perfectionism
Shame and negative beliefs about self
Body image and self-worth
Boundaries and assertiveness
Executive function impairment
Emotional dysregulation
High-risk behaviors
Low motivation and avoidance
More generally, I'm well-versed in assisting with a number of common mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD.
